Silly question? I thought most of my readers would say that to themselves. I guess the real question is: How MUCH to you really like meatballs fast? Well, if the answer is A LOT and REAL fast, then check this out. Grubdudes is putting together a speed eating contest featuring everyone’s favorite ball – the meatball!  If you live in or around the Boston area and would be interested in participating (speed eating), becoming a sponsor or are a local or national media outlet that would like to be present for the event (hint: Guinness Book of World Records, maybe?) then please take the click and read what we have to say after the jump!

Meet Dennis – he’s a Boston Food Club member and Chili Cook. Although he will tell you he is not a professional cook, but more of a “culinary tinkerer”, he is a competitor when it comes to Chili.  Competing on the ICS for two seasons and a half dozen cook-off’s, Dennis’ loves to “play with his food” and who doesnt?  I know I do…

Woohoo! Salem is known for Witch’s but on Thursday August 7th is their “Best Pizza Competition”. This is (obviously) when all the towns pizza places get together at the Salem Common and duke it out for the best pie in Salem. I will be there with my $5 admission fee and sampling the pizza, and blogging about it and the winner – (you guessed it) HERE on BFC.

Don’t wimp out or go on any low-carb diets just yet… see you there!

Sunday Supper

Today, just like any other Sunday, I got together with my family at my parents house. I get there several hours before everyone else to help my mother cook. In this isntance, I made the pizza.  In our house, we make sicilian pizza (square, risen dough, POOFED pizza). and it is what I grew up on for pizza.  We never went to pizza places unless it was a “treat”, and then, it was a Greek place in Waltham, MA called “Athens Pizza” on Moody street (buy 4 get one free!)…

Friday’s Wellness

Every Friday the company I work for has something we call “Wellness”. This is when each department rotates on a monthly basis and buys breakfast for everyone. The budget is $40 for about 20 employees. It works out perfectly.

When I first started working for my company, I thought “Wellness” meant “healthy”…not so. I brought in all sorts of fruit and low fat stuff.. sure people ate it, but that’s not how I would feed a crew if it was all up to me, and I had free creative reign over the menu. Now, I go to the supermarket on Thursday nights and pick up, cheddar cheese, crackers, peppered salami, pepperoni, yogurt and granola (for those who don’t eat meat, or at least that early in the day) :) I also stop by Panera on that Friday and pick up bagels and some of the breakfast souffle’s, cream cheese and napkins – because I eat like a pig and need all the cleanup I can get.
